I

Dyson was kind enough to send along a vacuum for us to try out.

“This has changed my entire vacuum experience,” says the Cajun.

We had just finished vacuuming up the carpets here at the Geek house when the Dyson arrived. It was so pretty. :) Easy to put together.

And when it turned on, it hummed. Well, sounded like a vacuum, but worked like a champ.

Did I mention we just finished vacuuming the carpet? You know, ran it over the carpet and it supposedly picked up all the dust and dirt?

Here’s what we got out of the Dyson after we finished.

Look, my trash!

Hey, look, it’s my trash. :) Actually, that mess on top is what was left in my carpet. That’s one carpet. One.

The Cajun used it to vacuum the couch and other areas of the house. He loves it. It sucks up everything.

As you may notice, we have hardwood floors. Now, a small flaw I notice is that the vacuum automatically starts in ‘carpet’ mode. And if you use carpet mode on hardwood, it’ll scratch your hardwood. The carpet mode makes the little brushes beat the carpet so it’ll scrub those hairs out, like other vacuums.

This one you push a button and it turns the brush beating off. I’d have preferred that you had to push a button to turn it on instead of it coming on automatically. That way if you accidentally have it on hardwood when you start, it isn’t automatically set to brush beating.

Is it worth the price tag? After examining it here, I would have saved to get one of these. Any good vacuum will cost a couple hundred dollars. I’ve seen the price of other Dysons going down in the past.

I can’t wait to try it at the Cajun’s mom’s house one day. :) I’ll take pictures of that soon. She has more carpet areas than we do.

What really makes for a great vacuum? Honestly, it’s the pick-me-up-everything-dirty that makes me happy. Dyson’s vacuum has that technology that makes a geek girl weep for joy.

I don’t vacuum every day, but when I do, I want the vacuum to make up for all those other days I didn’t have time for it. I’m planning on getting one of these for my mom.

Out of all the products I’ve gotten, this one I was the most excited about. Getting excited over a vacuum? Impossible! But it’s true! (Geeky, I know.)

OK, sweeping comments about awesome, but not enough specifics.

The unit comes with four attachments, and there is a hose that comes out of the top. One of the attachments has the beater brushes, the others don’t. One problem I had is the add-on beater brush attachment doesn’t have a holder on the vacuum. We had to make a spot for it somewhere else. Maybe I missed the location. Anyone else have one can tell me where it goes?

The suction from the hose is just as great as the base, a little weaker but it works great. My favorite attachment is the brush beater, which is great for the couch we have.

Cat hairs are not a problem for this thing. We have two, and we’re constantly getting fur babies all in the corners of the house and by the legs of the couch. Drives us crazy.

But the Dyson Animal eats these up. Other vacuums I had would half suck them up but by the time it was close, some of the fluffy stuff would be blown away from weird physic forces I don’t quite understand yet. Animal fur doesn’t seem to be a problem at all for the Dyson vacuum cleaner.

Dyson’s value, I hope, will be seen in the longevity as well as the impressive positives it has now. You’ll hear more from me as I use it. :)

Thanks to Dyson for sending out the vacuum and for letting us experience this.

Direct quote from the Cajun, “I love that vacuum more than a man should.”

And he’s a pessimist. :)
