1. Shop on the outer aisles of the grocery store. This is a no-brainer, but much of the fresh foods at the grocery store, like produce, fresh meat, and fresh dairy products are found around the perimeter of the grocery store, as opposed to packaged and prepared foods on the inner aisles. This will save you serious calories, and it will also help you to cook a more healthful meal!

2. Go for grilling and baking. This is the best way to prepare any lean meats, as opposed to breading or frying. As the weather gets warmer, grilling should be your top priority because not only is it incredibly delicious, but it is a healthy way to prepare any type of meat at home.

3. Minimize the use of butter and oil. You may be surprised how your healthy meal turns into something somewhat unhealthy when cooking with oil or butter. Lean proteins can easily absorb butter and oil, packing on the calories! Instead, opt for nonstick cooking spray when grilling on the stovetop.

4. Focus on fruits and vegetables. If you are not a big fan of many fruits and vegetables, this may be your opportunity to branch out. Veer outside of the norm of peas, broccoli, and carrots, and try eggplant, squash, and even sweet potatoes as delicious vegetable alternatives that you may grow to love.

If you want to maintain a healthy diet at home, these simple tips will make your life much easier! This is your opportunity to not only stay at a healthy weight, but also contribute to your health from head to toe.

Excellent post, and you are making me hungry! I love grilling and also my RonCo rotisserie oven… MMMmmm! Do you have any grilling advice? I have my own list of recipes started on my blog, feel free to try some.

1, 2 and 4 were particularly insightful, but I must caution on number 3.
I believe (my honest opinion) that eating real butter is more healthy than eating non-stick spray. Remember, everything that goes into the pot or pan eventually goes into your mouth. I’ll deal with the calories, but unnatural chemicals make me nervous. Or, use olive oil instead… beats both of them.

Olive oil is my oil of preference. I prefer the cooking sprays with just olive oil. Makes it easier to get on the pan.
